In recent years, there has been an alarming trend in UFO sightings – a rise in hoaxes and fake sightings created using computer-generated imagery (CGI).
The rise of simulator games could be so real looking that people will mistake footage from simulators for the real thing.

Just remember that simulator games are churning out very real looking videos.
The prevalence of AI or artificial intelligence has made it easier for people to create fake UFO sightings, making a mockery of what was once a serious field of study.
A recent video showing what appears to be a pilot filming a black UFO disk flying past a jet has been revealed as a CGI rendering probably taken from a game like a simulator. These are on the rise and we can't tell the difference as easily as we once could.

This discovery has sent shockwaves through the UFO community, leaving many feeling disillusioned and disheartened.
The ability to create realistic-looking hoaxes using AI or CGI has made it increasingly difficult to differentiate between real and fake sightings. This has led to a decline in the credibility of UFO sightings and has made it difficult to determine what constitutes a genuine sighting.
Where once I regularly gave people the benefit of the doubt and took them at their word it turns out that people are deliberately creating UFO sightings just in the hopes of making fun out of people.
The rise in hoax sightings is not only damaging to the UFO community but is also a disservice to those who have had legitimate experiences with unidentified flying objects. While there may be many explanations for such sightings, the hoax-makers are doing a disservice to those who have genuinely experienced something unexplainable.
Creating a UFO sighting just to say "What do you think about this, real or fake" knowing that it's as bogus as a 15-pound note is doing Ufology a disservice.
I did use to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but I don't know what to think anymore.
Conclusion
There's a combat game simulator called DCS from Eagle Dynamics which allows anyone to simulate wargaming and use any military vehicles. See this fact check post on Yahoo news for more info by AFP.
"F-22 Raptor vs Drone in DCS | Digital Combat Simulator," the captions say.

It's a sad state of affairs when the once-serious study of UFOs has become a joke due to the prevalence of fake sightings. The challenge now is for the UFO community to regain its credibility and distinguish genuine sightings from fraudulent ones. Only then can the study of UFOs regain the seriousness and respect it deserves.
But it's going to be a struggle because it's a thin line between taking people at their word and being cynical.
